1 Day Mabamba Swamp Birding Tour

The tour to the Mabamba wetland is one of the top destinations to trek the shoebill stock and other water birds in Uganda, the swamp is located west of Entebbe town on the northern shores of Lake Victoria and 50kmwest of Kampala, the swamp is a 1-hour drive from Entebbe, wildlife in this swamp include the famous shoebill sock, papyrus grasses, cormorants and other birds’ pieces along with fantastic viewing and photography opportunities.

  • Day 1: Transfer to Mabamba Swamp

    Our professional tour driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel after your breakfast with packed lunch and transfer to Mabamba Island, The Swamp is located 50km west of Kampala approximately 1 hour and 30minutes drive to reach the Swamp, the main activity of the day is birding/ shoebill stock trekking, the activity takes from 1-3 hours with two sessions one being carried out in the morning and another in the evening depending on your arrival time at this destination, other bird species to see include bird waters like cormorants, cattle egrets, African black crake, White faced whistling duck, Gargany and many more along papyrus grasses with fantastic view and photography opportunities.

    After hours of the swamp adventure, you can choose to visit Entebbe beach or even Entebbe wildlife education Centre to supplement your day before transferring back to your hotel.
